Payments with Stripe

How to connect Stripe Connect, take payments, understand payouts and fees, and handle refunds.

Retiva processes payments through Stripe Connect. That means sales money lands in your own Stripe account, and Retiva only facilitates placing orders on the storefront. Without Stripe connected, customers can’t complete a purchase.

Connecting Stripe Connect

Setup takes a few minutes and you only do it once. Have your business details (name, address, tax ID), a bank account number for payouts, and an ID document for the company’s representative ready — Stripe may ask for it.

1. Go to the Dashboard and find the “Stripe Connect” card. It’s labelled “Accept payments from customers”.

2. Click “Connect Stripe account”. The black button on the card starts the setup.

3. Start the setup on Stripe’s side. Your browser takes you to a secure Stripe page (“Retiva.io partners with Stripe for secure payments”). On the Get started with Stripe screen, enter or confirm your email address and click Continue.

5. Return to Retiva. On the Stripe Connect card you’ll see a green Account active status and the note “Ready to accept payments”. That means everything works.

Account active

Ready to accept payments

The green “Account active” status confirms the gateway is ready.

If you don’t have a Stripe account yet, you’ll create one during the connection flow — there’s no need to set it up separately beforehand.

Verification and the “Account active” status

Stripe may ask for additional information (business details, an ID document, a bank account for payouts) before it fully activates payments. Until verification is complete:

Fill in everything Stripe flags in its dashboard to reach the Account active status.

Payouts

Sales money accumulates in your Stripe account and is paid out to your bank account on the payout schedule set in Stripe. You’ll find the schedule and payout history in the Stripe dashboard, not in Retiva.

Fees

Every transaction carries Stripe’s payment-processing fees. The breakdown is visible in the Stripe dashboard. Factor them in when pricing your products — remember you can sell a voucher below its face value (see Monetary vouchers).

Refunds and cancellations

You issue refunds against a specific order. After refunding, remember that the related voucher should no longer be redeemed — check its status under Vouchers before handling a complaint.
